EghtesadOnline: Iranian manufactures will provide equipment and parts including electro-compressors for the Persian Gulf Bidboland Gas Refinery, managing director of the refinery said.

“The refiner has signed seven MoUs with local companies worth $104 million,” Oil Ministry news portal Shana quoted Mahmoud Aminnejad as saying.

"One of the important agreements is the design and construction of 24 electric compressors," he said. Compressors provide gas pressure to transport gas via pipelines and lift oil in gas-lift operations.

The agreements, among other things, include designing, building, installing and commissioning 110 compressors, electric compressors, and turbochargers.

The $3.4 billion Bidboland refinery in oil-rich southern Khuzestan was inaugurated last month. It has a daily capacity of processing 56 million cubic meters of associated gas from the East and West Karoun oil fields that include several large oilfields straddling the Iran-Iraq border namely Azadegan, Yaran, Yadavaran and Darkhoein.

Construction of the refinery began in 2015 when international sanctions were lifted after Iran signed the historic nuclear deal with the six world powers, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

The huge complex is expected to generate $1.5 billion a year including $700 million from exports.

Bidboland facility will have an annual production capacity of 10.4 million tons of methane, which will be injected into the  gas grid, 1.5 million tons ethane, 1 million tons propane, 600,000 tons gas condensates and 500,000 tons butane to be fed into several petrochemical plants in Mahshahr and Gachsaran.

An estimated 900,000 tons of acid gas produced each year in the plant will be injected into oil wells in the Aghajari fields in  Khuzestan to boost crude oil output and produce 600,000 tons of gas condensates.

The complex employs modern water treatment systems, including zero liquid discharge (ZLD) system, to curb water consumption.

“Close to one million liters of wastewater is reclaimed in the refinery a day,” Aminnejad said.

Furthermore, it is equipped with a modern vapor recovery unit that can collect environmentally-hazardous vapors to be reprocessed or destroyed. Officials say Bidboland will play a significant role in improving the downstream petrochemical sector.
