This comes as, according to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, Gilan Province posted the lowest month-on-month inflation of 0.8% last month.
The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 298.1 in the same month, indicating a 1.8% rise compared with the previous month.
Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province’s goods and services consumer inflation registered a rise of 58.5% during the month ending March 20 compared with the similar month of the year before, the highest among all provinces. The year-on-year CPI growth was the lowest for Qom with 42.9%, compared with that of other Iranian provinces. The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 48.7% in the same month.
The overall average goods and services CPI in Iran for the 12-month period ending March 20 increased by 36.4% compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Kermanshah saw the highest annual inflation with 40.1% while Markazi Province posted the lowest of 33.3%.
Urban Households
The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 294.9 during the 12th month of the current Iranian year, indicating a 1.8% rise compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI measured for provincial urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (3%) for South Khorasan while Khuzestan recorded the lowest monthly inflation growth of 0.9% compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 47.8% for urban areas. Goods and services CPI of Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari’s urban areas registered a year-on-year rise of 58.9% during the month under review, the highest among all provinces. The CPI increase in urban areas was the lowest for Qom with 42.8% YOY.
The overall average CPI in urban areas for the 12-month period increased by 36.2% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Households living in urban areas of Kermanshah saw the highest annual inflation (39.4%) while those of West Azarbaijan witnessed the lowest annual inflation (32.5%) among all Iranian provinces.
Rural Households
The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 316.1 in the month under review, which indicates a 1.6% increase compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI of rural households compared with the previous month was highest for Sistan-Baluchestan with 3.3%. This is while rural households living in Qom saw a 0.3% increase in the prices of goods and services compared with the month before, the lowest rate compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 53.3% for rural areas in the same month. CPI of Ilam’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 61.2% during the 12th month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces, whereas the year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Sistan-Baluchestan with 45% compared with other provincial rural areas.
The goods and services CPI of rural areas in the 12-month period increased by 37.7% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Hamedan registered the highest annual inflation in rural areas (43.8%) while Sistan-Baluchestan posted the lowest annual inflation (33.2%).
Tehran Province Inflation at 35%
The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending March 20 for Tehran Province, wherein lies the capital city, increased by 36.7% compared with the corresponding period of the last year.
SCI had put Tehran’s average annual inflation rate for the preceding Iranian month, which ended on Feb. 18, at 35.1%.
The consumer inflation for the month under review registered an increase of 45.2% compared with the similar month of the previous Iranian year. The year-on-year inflation of the month ending Feb. 18 was 43.6%.
The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) of Tehran Province stood at 301.3 last month, indicating a 2.4% rise compared with the month before. Month-on-month consumer inflation was 2.2% for the preceding month.
SCI put urban and rural areas of Tehran Province’s 12-month inflation rate for the month under review at 36.7% and 35.8%, respectively.
CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 45.2% for urban areas and 46.5% for rural areas in the month under review.
The overall CPI reached 301.1 for urban households and 309.2 for rural households, indicating a month-on-month increase of 2.4% for both urban and rural areas.
