This comes as, according to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province and Tehran posted the lowest month-on-month inflation of 1.7%.
The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 306.1 in the month to April 20, indicating a 2.7% rise compared with the previous month.
Ilam’s goods and services consumer inflation registered a rise of 58.1% during the month ending April 20 compared with the similar month of the year before, the highest among all provinces.
The year-on-year CPI growth was the lowest for Qom with 42.8%, compared with that of other Iranian provinces. The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 49.5% in the same month.
The average goods and services CPI in Iran for the 12-month period ending April 20 increased by 38.9% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Kermanshah saw the highest annual inflation with 42.9% while Qom posted the lowest of 35.8%.
Urban Households
The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 302.7 during the first month of the current Iranian year, indicating a 2.6% rise compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI measured for provincial urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (4.5%) for Sistan-Baluchestan while Tehran recorded the lowest monthly inflation growth of 1.7% compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 48.8% for urban areas. Goods and services CPI of Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari’s urban areas registered a year-on-year rise of 58.2% during the month under review, the highest among all provinces. The CPI increase in urban areas was the lowest for Qom with 42.7% YOY.
The average CPI in urban areas for the 12-month period increased by 38.6% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Households living in urban areas of Kurdestan registered the highest annual inflation (42.7%) while those of West Azarbaijan witnessed the lowest annual inflation (35.3%) among all Iranian provinces.
Rural Households
The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 325.4 in the month under review, which indicates a 3% increase compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI of rural households compared with the previous month was highest for Khuzestan with 5.5%. This is while rural households living in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province saw a 0.7% increase in the prices of goods and services compared with the month before, the lowest rate compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 53% for rural areas in the same month. CPI of Ilam’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 63.3% during the first month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces, whereas the year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Qom with 43.5% compared with other provincial rural areas.
The goods and services CPI of rural areas in the 12-month period increased by 40.6% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Hamedan registered the highest annual inflation in rural areas (47.1%) while Sistan-Baluchestan posted the lowest annual inflation (35.7%).
Tehran Province
The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending April 20 for Tehran Province, wherein lies the capital city, increased by 38.6% compared with the corresponding period of the last year.
SCI had put Tehran’s average annual inflation rate for the preceding Iranian month that ended on March 20 at 36.7%.
The consumer inflation for the month under review registered an increase of 46% compared with the similar month of the previous Iranian year. The year-on-year inflation of the month ending March 20 was 45.2%.
The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) of Tehran Province stood at 306.4 last month, indicating a 1.7% rise compared with the month before. Month-on-month consumer inflation was 2.4% for the preceding month
SCI put urban and rural areas of Tehran Province’s 12-month inflation for the month under review at 38.6% and 37.8%, respectively.
CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 46% for urban areas and 46.9% for rural areas in the month under review.
The overall CPI reached 306.3 for urban households and 313.2 for rural households, indicating a month-on-month increase of 1.7% for urban areas and 1.3% for rural areas.
