Tehran Stocks Notch Another Gain

EghtesadOnline: Despite mounting sell-side pressure in most share categories, Tehran stocks ended Tuesday’s session higher extending a 9-day winning streak.

The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, gained 4,704.10 points or 0.38% to end trade at 1,248,516.

The TSE’s equal-weighted index posted a meager gain and closed slightly above the flatline (0.07%) as most penny stocks experienced excess supply.

Inflow of liquidity by retail traders ceased after five consecutive sessions. The value of deals by retail investors also declined 11% to reach 62.5 trillion rials ($255 million).   

About 7.17 billion shares valued at 54.43 trillion rials ($217m) changed hands at TSE for the day. Bouali Sina Petrochemical Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 9.37% to 47,400 rials per share.

Leasing Iran Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 26.9% to 6,820 rials per share.

Social Security Investment Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, Esfahan Oil Refining Company and Isfahan Province Investment Company.

Omid Investment Management Group Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Mines and Metals Development Investment Company, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company and Telecommunication Company of Iran.

IFB Upbeat

The junior equity market Iran Fara Bourse outperformed TSE on Tuesday. Its main index, IFX, gained 164.83 points or 0.93% to close trade at 17,964.

About 1.79 billion shares and securities valued at 42.47 trillion rials ($169.87m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day. Day Insurance Company, Vitana Company, Omid Taban Hour Energy Management Company and Fka Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Arya Sasol Polymer Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Zagros Petrochemical Company, Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company and Hormozgan Steel Company.
