“The transfer of gas and liquid fluids in oil and gas complexes is one of the most important tasks of wellhead valves. In case of emergency, the flow of fluids can be established or stopped by opening and closing the valves. One of the things that should be considered in the maintenance of these valves is their lubrication,” the Oil Ministry’s news agency Shana also quoted Mojgan Shirkhani as saying.
Shirkhani, who is in charge of the well lubricant production project, said improving the performance of valves and preventing their corrosion are one of the most important tasks of lubrication.
“When wellhead valves lose their efficiency due to non-lubrication, they only act as a connecting pipe, which is very dangerous and can give rise to accidents in the oil industry, so periodic safety inspections of valves’ lubrication are necessary to ensure their proper operation,” she said.
“These lubricants have a complex and special formulation of corrosion inhibitors, inorganic hardeners and fillers in a synthetic base oil. In the past, such lubricants were supplied by a few American and European companies but can now be produced domestically.”
The research center has played a key role in the production and export of science and technology from oil, gas and petrochemical industries. It has also contributed to wealth production and knowledge-based economy.
