Stocks Close Below Flatline

EghtesadOnline: After a strong rally, sell-side pressure picked up on Sunday, causing a majority of shares pare some of the previous gains.

The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, was in positive zone in the early hours of the session before moving toward the flatline at the close of the trade.   

The market cap-weighted TEDPIX lost 1,402 points or 0.1% to finish trading at 1,436,062.

Losses in small caps were bigger as indicated in the close to 1% decline in TSE’s equal-weighted index.

About 6.02 billion shares valued at 45.05 trillion rials ($166.85 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Trading at TSE and junior exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.

Iranian Leasing Company was the biggest winner, as its shares went up 5% to 4,684 rials per share.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Group incurred the biggest loss among TSE-listed companies and went down 8.55% to 13,790 rials per share.

Esfahan Oil Refining Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by ISIL, Iran Khodro Company and Telecommunications Company of Iran.

The National Iranian Copper Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Social Security Investment Company, Pardis Petrochemical Company and Nouri Petrochemical Company.

IFB Down 0.7%

Iran Fara Bourse’s main index, IFX, lost 142 points or 0.7% to close Sunday trade at 20,413.

About 3.09 billion securities valued at 27.31 trillion rials ($101.16 million) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Day Bank had the highest number of traded shares, as 707.72 million shares worth 686.08 billion rials ($2.54 million) were traded.

Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Iran Fara Bourse, Sirjan Jahan Steel Complex and Damavand Power Generation Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Shiraz Oil Refining Company, Iranian Reinsurance Company and Isfahan Zinc Smelting Company.
