TEDPIX Slumps Over 18,000 Points

EghtesadOnline: Tehran stocks opened trading week Saturday again lower amid panic selling and the uninterrupted outflow of liquidity by retail investors.

The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, lost 18,239.97 points or 1.31% to dive below the 1.4 million level, closing the session at 1,375,720.

The biggest losers were small caps with the TSE’s equal-weighted index shedding 1.6%.

Capital outflow by retail investors extended for the ninth session in a row, reaching almost 10 trillion rials ($37 million), with metal and refinery stocks taking the biggest hit.  

About 5.46 billion shares valued at 37.97 trillion rials ($140m) changed hands at TSE for the day.

The Iranian Parenteral and Pharmaceutical Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 4.96% to 28,340 rials per share.

Nasir Machine Engineering Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies going down 4.99% to 21,520 rials per share.

National Iranian Copper Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, Pardis Petrochemical Company and Parsian Oil and the Gas Development Group.

Opal Kani Pars Mining and Processing Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Chadormalu Mining And Industrial Company, Asan Pardakht Persian Company and Shahed Investment Company.

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 170.86 points or 0.86% to close Saturday trade at 19,637. About 5.45 billion securities worth 47.4 trillion rials ($175.5m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Zagros Petrochemical Company, Esfahan Steel Company, Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company and Hormozgan Steel Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Pasargad Insurance Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Minoo Industrial Group Company, Iranian Reinsurance Company and Omid Taban Hour Energy Management Company.
