According to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, Sistan-Baluchestan Province posted the lowest month-on-month inflation of 2.2% last month.
The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 364.1 in the same month, indicating a 3.7% rise compared with the previous month.
Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province’s goods and services consumer inflation registered a rise of 48.5% during the month ending Oct. 22 compared with the similar month of the year before, the highest among all provinces. The year-on-year CPI growth was the lowest for Sistan-Baluchestan with 31.9%, compared with that of other Iranian provinces. The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 39.2% in the same month.
The average goods and services CPI in Iran for the 12-month period ending Oct. 22 increased by 45.4% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Ilam saw the highest average annual inflation with 53.3% while Qom posted the lowest of 40.9%.
Urban Households
The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 360.2 during the seventh month of the current Iranian year, indicating a 3.6% rise compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI measured for provincial urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (6.7%) for Kerman while Sistan-Baluchestan recorded the lowest monthly inflation growth of 1.9% compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 38.4% for urban areas. Goods and services CPI of Zanjan’s urban areas registered a year-on-year rise of 47.3% during the month under review, the highest among all provinces. The CPI increase in urban areas was the lowest for Sistan-Baluchestan with 30.9% YOY.
The average CPI in urban areas for the 12-month period increased by 44.7% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Households living in the urban areas of Ilam saw the highest annual inflation (52.5%) while those of Qom witnessed the lowest annual inflation (40.8.3%) among all Iranian provinces.
Rural Households
The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 386 in the month under review, which indicate a 4.1% increase compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI of rural households compared with the previous month was highest for Gilan with 6.8%. This is while rural households living in North Khorasan saw a 2.5% increase in the prices of goods and services compared with the month before, the lowest rate compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 43.9% for rural areas in the same month. CPI of Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 54.3% during the seventh month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces, whereas the year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Sistan-Baluchestan with 34.1% compared with other provincial rural areas.
The goods and services CPI of rural areas in the 12-month period increased by 49.6% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Ilam registered the highest annual inflation in rural areas (56.9%) while Tehran and Qom posted the lowest annual inflation (43.3%).
Tehran Province
The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending Oct. 22 for Tehran Province, wherein lies the capital city, increased by 41.2% compared with the corresponding period of last year.
SCI had put Tehran’s average annual inflation rate for the preceding Iranian month, which ended on Sept. 22, at 41.8%.
The consumer inflation for the month under review registered an increase of 35.1% year-on-year while it was 39.1% in the preceding month.
The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) of Tehran Province stood at 365 in the period under review, indicating a 3.3% rise compared with the month before. Month-on-month consumer inflation was 4.4% for the preceding month.
SCI put Tehran Province’s urban and rural 12-month inflation for the month under review at 41.2% and 43.3%, respectively.
CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 35.2% for urban areas and 40.5% for rural areas in the month under review.
The overall CPI reached 364.8 for urban households and 373.4 for rural households, indicating a month-on-month increase of 3.2% for urban areas and 3.6% for rural areas.
