Tehran Stocks Pause After 5-Day Rally

EghtesadOnline: Share prices in Tehran stumbled on Sunday bucking a rising trend that started last Monday as investors sold shares to save previous gains.

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, lost 9,689.82 points or 0.67% to end trade at 1,430,961. Tracking the performance of small caps, the TSE’s equal-weighted index shed 0.4%.

Despite the downturn, trade by retail investors rose 29% to reach 73.63 trillion rials ($272 million), the highest in the  month.  

About 13.62 billion shares worth 83.77 trillion rials ($310m) changed hands at TSE for the day. Trade at the TSE and junior exchange Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.

Behnoush Iran Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 5% to 55,860 rials per share.

Iran Darou Pharmaceutical Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.89% to 25,070 rials per share.

Mobarakeh Steel Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by the Social Security Investment Company, Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and National Iranian Copper Industries Company.

MAPNA Group gave the biggest boost to the benchmark  followed by Iran Khodro Company, Nouri Petrochemical Company and Telecommunications Company of Iran.

IFX Down 0.6%

Iran Fara Bourse’s main index IFX, lost, 128.8 points or 0.63% to close Sunday trade at 20,231.

About 2.58 billion securities valued at 34.1 trillion rials ($126.3 billion) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Kerman Province Development Investment Company had the highest number of traded shares as 345.9 million of its shares worth 364.77 billion rials ($1.35 million) were traded.

Zagros Petrochemical Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Sirjan Jahan Steel Complex and Saba Tamin Investment Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Minoo Industrial Group gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Iran Cultural Heritage and Tourism Investment Group, Damavand Power Generation Company and Ghaed Basir Petrochemical Company.
