Kish-Muscat Round-Trip Flights Resume

EghtesadOnline: Weekly round-trip flights between Iran’s Kish Island and the Omani capital, Muscat, resumed as of Dec. 11, according to the caretaker of Kish Port and Airport Development and Management Company, affiliated with Kish Free Zone Organization.

he flights had been suspended in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Flights take off from Kish Airport at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays to land at Muscat International Airport. Return flights will be at 5 p.m. of the same day,” Ezzatollah Mohammadi was quoted by ILNA as saying.

“The flight takes about one hour on each trip, which will help expand tourism ties between the two neighboring countries,” he added.

Mohammadi told IRNA that the company plans to launch direct flights to Kuwait, Dubai and Doha from Kish Island. 

Kish Island, located 18 kilometers off the southern coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf, has been declared the fourth best tourist destination in Southwest Asia by the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List.

Covering an area of over 90 kilometers, the island is among the most beautiful coral islands in the Persian Gulf.
