According to data released by the Statistical Center of Iran, Kurdestan Province posted the lowest month-on-month inflation of 0.6% during the month under review.
The overall CPI, using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year, stood at 379.2 in the same month, indicating a 1.7% rise compared with the previous month.
Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province’s goods and services consumer inflation registered a rise of 35.2% during the month ending Dec. 21 compared with the similar month of the year before, the highest among all provinces. The year-on-year CPI growth was the lowest for Sistan-Baluchestan Province with 28%, compared with that of other Iranian provinces. The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a year-on-year increase of 35.2% in the same month.
The average goods and services CPI in Iran for the 12-month period ending Dec. 21 increased by 43.4% year-on-year.
Ilam saw the highest average annual inflation with 51.1% while Qom posted the lowest of 39.2%.
Urban Households
The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 374.9 during the ninth month of the current Iranian year, indicating a 1.6% rise compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI measured for provincial urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (3.9%) for Hamedan while Kurdestan recorded the lowest monthly inflation growth of 0.7% compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 35% for urban areas. Goods and services CPI of Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad’s urban areas registered a year-on-year rise of 44.2% during the month under review, the highest among all provinces. The CPI increase in urban areas was the lowest for Sistan-Baluchestan with 27.2% YOY.
The average CPI in urban areas for the 12-month period increased by 42.7% year-on-year. Households living in the urban areas of Zanjan saw the highest annual inflation (50.6%) while those of Qom witnessed the lowest annual inflation (39.1%) among all Iranian provinces.
Rural Households
The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 403.7 in the month under review, which indicates a 1.8% increase compared with the previous month.
The growth in CPI of rural households compared with the previous month was highest for Gilan with 3.3%. This is while rural households living in Qazvin saw a 0.1% increase in the prices of goods and services compared with the month before, the lowest rate compared with other provinces.
The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 36.2% for rural areas in the same month. CPI of Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 48.5% during the ninth month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces, whereas the year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Hamedan with 25.7% compared with other provincial rural areas.
The goods and services CPI of rural areas in the 12-month period increased by 47% year-on-year.
Ilam registered the highest annual inflation in rural areas (54.1%) while Sistan-Baluchestan posted the lowest annual inflation rate (40.9%).
Tehran Province
The average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending Dec. 21 for Tehran Province, wherein lies the capital city, increased by 39.7% compared with the corresponding period of last year.
SCI had put Tehran’s average annual inflation rate for the preceding Iranian month, which ended on Nov. 21, at 40.3%.
The consumer inflation for the month under review registered an increase of 34.4% year-on-year while it was 34.1% in the preceding month.
The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) of Tehran Province stood at 378.1 in the period under review, indicating a 1.4% rise compared with the month before. Month-on-month consumer inflation was 2.2% for the preceding month.
SCI put Tehran Province’s urban and rural 12-month inflation rates for the month under review at 39.6% and 42.1%, respectively.
CPI registered a year-on-year increase of 34.4% for urban areas and 34.8% for rural areas in the month under review.
The overall CPI reached 377.9 for urban households and 381.5 for rural households, indicating a month-on-month increase of 1.4% for urban areas and 0.5% for rural areas.
