“Close to 2.13 million tons of the overall sum were non-oil gods and the remaining 1.12 million tons were oil products,” Siavash Arjomandzadeh was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official noted that container throughput during the period under review amounted to 30,163 TEUs.
“During the same period, 1,879 vessels docked at the southern port, 430 of which weighed over 1,000 tons. Also, 1,822 vessels left the port, 405 of which weighed over 1,000 tons,” he added.
Arjomandzadeh announced that 51,687 passengers were transported via Bushehr Port, 25,244 of which constituted incoming passengers and 26,443 outgoing.
The southern Iranian province has a 937-kilometer coastline alongside the Persian Gulf.
The port of Bushehr has the capacity to handle 7 million tons of goods per year and can host vessels weighing over 30,000 tons.
Iran’s total foreign trade stood at 145.7 million tons worth $73 billion over the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), of which 25.05 million tons worth $8.42 billion were conducted through the southern Bushehr Province’s customs terminals.
“Bushehr Province’s customs had a 16.6% [about one-sixth] and 11% share in weight and value of Iran’s overall foreign trade during the period respectively,” said Behrouz Qarehbeygi, director general of Bushehr Customs Administration.
The official stressed that 24.56 million tons of goods were exported from Bushehr’s customs and about 482,000 tons were imported in return over the period under review.
According to Arjomandzadeh, a total of 45 million tons of commodities were loaded and unloaded in Bushehr Province’s ports last year.
