EghtesadOnline: A total of 1.4 million tons of non-oil goods were exported from the eastern ports of Hormozgan Province, including Shahid Bahonar Port, to Persian Gulf littoral states and East Asian countries, registering a 17% rise compared with the year before, a provincial official affiliated to Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization said.

“The main exported commodities included fruits and vegetables, sulfur, construction materials and salt,” Hamidreza Mohammad-Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

Shahid Bahonar is one of the most active ports in southern Iran in terms of both passenger and freight transportation. The port enjoys a strategic position due to its proximity to the Persian Gulf littoral states and the Iranian islands of Qeshm and Kish, according to Financial Tribune.
