“I have had detailed discussions with American officials over JCPOA. I believe the new US administration must have understood that it would be in the interest of no one in the region to take a course [on Iran’s nuclear program] different from the JCPOA,” Mogherini said during the 7th annual meeting of European University Institute.
“They should know that the JCPOA is an international deal which EU alongside with U.S., Russia, China, Germany, France, UK and Iran negotiated together about it, UN Security Council has supported and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has monitoring it,” ISNA quoted her as saying.
“IAEA has on multiple occasions verified Iran’s adherence to its commitments under the multilateral deal. So U.S cannot nix the deal alone,” Mogherini went on to say.
“What I’m seeing is the deal is working. It is making the world... much safer,” the High Representative said.
